Exceptional Parent - August 2009 - (Page 14) NEW PRODUCTS Carebike The Carebike cycle attachment for wheelchairs comprises an anodized aluminum platform on wheels that attaches to a 21-speed comfort bike. It is designed to offer friends, family members and caregivers the convenience of taking a bike ride while still being close at hand to assist the wheelchair user. The wheelchair fits on the platform with the Carebike attached at the rear, giving the biker complete steering, stopping, and starting control. OfficeMate OFFICEMATE is a switch-adapted multipoint Bluetooth® headset that allows the user to switch between cell phone and computer use with a single headset. The unit is adapted with a 1/8-inch audio mono jack on a wire lead for use with standard ability switch or wheelchair ECU port. Optron i-Stick The Optron i-Stick desktop video magnifier has a color camera and can be used with a laptop computer or a computer monitor. It provides magnification at a classroom desk or at the board in an auditorium, and can be carried from classroom to classroom and from building to building. The TwistCam camera has flexible positioning so that the picture on the screen is always level and upright at any angle for left- or right-handed users. The camera’s swivel arm sits at an angle for a large magnification area, and can be straightened to a very high camera position for a better view of a blackboard and a 360-degree surround view. The magnifier comes with video-streaming and screen-shot software. Brake Director™ Brake Director™ is a one-hand dual brake lever that installs on any bicycle with a cable-operated two-brake system.
